Zumo MP3 Loader is a Windows VB Script file, similar to a DOS batch file or Linux/Unix script program if you’re familiar with those. Most modern versions of Windows have VB Script built in. To use the program to efficiently load MP3 files to your Garmin Zumo’s memory card, follow these steps:
- Put the MP3 files you want to load in a folder on your computer. I like to create a “Motorcycle” playlist in iTunes. You can then create a folder on your desktop, and drag & drop the playlist from iTunes into the folder, which will copy all the MP3 files into that folder.
- Unzip the ZumoMP3Loader.zip file, if you haven’t already.
- Right-click the ZumoMP3Loader.vbs file and select “Edit.”
- Change the “SourceFolder” line to the location of the folder where you put the MP3’s you want to load. If you put the folder on your desktop, you can right-click the folder and select “Properties” to view the path to the folder. It will look something like this: “C:\Users\SlappyMcGee\Desktop\Motorcycle Music”. If you want to get fancy, you can edit the other variables, but this is the important one.
- Close the file, and make sure you save.
- When you’re ready, double-click the ZumoMP3Loader.vbs file.
- You’ll see a messsage asking where you want to put your music files (presumably on your Zumo’s memory card). Just enter a drive letter (for example “K”) without any colons, slashes, etc.
- When you click OK, Zumo MP3 Loader will go to work, and quietly copy all your music into nice, sequentially numbered folders, and leave a log file for you. There are no status messages, so just be patient.
- Turn on your Zumo, and be ready for rapidly loading bliss!
